What your 3 year old self can teach you about being authentically you

being authentically you with bloom together

Hello beautiful human

I hope your holiday season was whatever you needed it to be.

With my parents here, mine was full of plans... but a good dose of flu meant that we took a much slower pace this year.

Whilst it wasn’t quite what we wanted, perhaps it was a slice of what we needed. Peace and each others presence

Whatever your holidays have given you, this year, my wish for you is that you empower yourself to claim whatever you want and need your life and career to be in this season.

In the meantime, I want to invite you to do something, perhaps even today.

When we arrive on this planet, as very young children, I believe that is the closest we get to being at our essence.

Maybe you held out a little longer than me, but I lost myself when I was about 4/5 years old. That’s the moment when I stopped being me, and focused on being what I thought the world needed me to be.

This is me at 3 years old. Messy, wild and free.

At our most authentic essence as children, we are:

Curious: we want to explore, and we approach new experiences without fear or prejudice.

Creative: we come up with innovative solutions to problems and are not bound by conventional thinking.

Real: we speak our minds without filters, which can be refreshing in a world where as adults we do not.

Present: we are engaged in the moment and can be fully immersed in whatever we are doing.

Loving: we are quick to forgive and forget, understanding the power of compassion and acceptance.

So with all that aspirational amazingness in mind, I want to encourage you to start this year by living from your essence.

  1. If you have access to any, see if you can find a childhood picture of you that captures little you. Not of you doing the things that other people have told you that you like to do, as close to the true nature of your spirit you can get.
  2. If you are up for it, send me your picture and a brief description of what you were like at that age. I would love to see them!
  3. Finally, keep a copy somewhere for the year where you can be inspired by it (and you!) - real talk, I have mine blown up big in a frame, right next to one of my husband at the same age, so that we never forget who we are.

...or at least have it in mind when you think about your goals for the year and we can figure out how to help you get back to that together. In Bloom Together, we work towards becoming the most authentic versions of ourselves throughout the year and we'd love to have you join us.

From my messiest, most imperfect self to yours, let’s make 2024 the year we get to be who we really are.

Big love
